Room in the Inn

This will be our second year participating in Room in the Inn.  We host guest on the first Friday of the month in December, January, February, and March.  To serve please call church office at 704-376-8014 for more information.

Sister to Sister

Displaced women in our community have very different needs than do the men living on the streets and in our shelters.  To support this effort, we are asking that you purchase toiletry bag(s) and fill them with feminine wipes, tampons, pads and a note of encouragement from one woman to another.  A collection box for the toiletry bags is located our library.  If you would prefer, you may make a financial donation and we will purchase toiletry bags and supplies and fill them for you.  Donations may be made in two ways: You write a check to First United Presbyterian Church with a notation that it is for Sister to Sister or via the “Give Now” button.

Remember, this is an on-going ministry so your continued donation of feminine hygiene products, cosmetic/nylon backpacks or cash are always needed.  For those who would like to help by writing inspirational notecards, packets of notecards with instructions can be found on the table in the library beside the Sister to Sister donation box. Thank you in advance for support of this ministry on behalf of displaced women in our community.

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat Charlotte has been named, by Habitat International, as one of the nation’s Affiliates of Distinction for its impact on the community and its willingness to adapt to new strategies. First United has been a part of this program for over sixteen years, which has provided 1,300 low-income families with affordable housing since 1983.

This will be our 22nd year with Habitat and Central City Church Partners.  We encourage other members to become involved in leadership roles with this Habitat project.  This is a great opportunity for our church to continually share in community fellowship and outreach!  To join us for this year’s build please call 704.376.8014 for more information.
